Please reserve a cottage to guarantee your privacy, and enjoy your relaxing time with your family, friends, or even with your pet, as all our cottages are pet friendly.
The cottages in OTONASHI NO SATO are wooden bungalows built of locally sourced lumber.
There are 10 cottages nestled in the mountains along a KUMANO KODO ancient road.
Necessary items such as a BBQ grill, cooking place, cooking equipment,
first-aid supplies, and bedding are all included, to make your stay more comfortable.
Enjoy outdoor activities in a relaxed manner in a world heritage site.
While here, please feel free to try the hot spring facility, OTONASHI NO SATO hot spring, is close to your cottage.
The hot spring is open from 13:00 till 21:00.
There are 10 cottages in total.
Each cottage is equipped with chairs, a table, and a grill (with a brand new wire mesh).
During your stay, enjoy unlimited access to the hot spring center.

The room for 7 people and the room for 9 people have two bunk beds.
equipped with refrigerator, gas stove, water heater, kitchen knife, cutting board, pot, kettle, and frying pan.
The living room also has an air conditioner and a KOTATSU table. (A KOTATSU FUTON is supplied during the winter).
We haven’t prepared a grill net. If you don’t have one, you can buy it at the administration building “OTONASHI NO SATO”.
＜We’ve Enhanced Cottage Amenities Since December 2021!＞
The motto of “-WATAZE OUTDOOR- Otonashi no Sato” is “To improve things step-by-step in a cost-effective manner.”
In December 2021, we established Wi-Fi access throughout the premises and renovated the campground with Washlet-equipped facilities.
‘Then we thought, why not improve the cottages too?” With the idea of “reducing luggage as much as possible so guests can enjoy the outdoors more easily,’
we enhanced the cottage amenities by providing:
① Paper dishware sets (enough for the number of guests),
② Rental bath towels (enough for the number of guests),
and ③ New grill mesh nets.
With ①, ②, and ③ available, we hope you’ll enjoy your outdoor experience with ease.

We’ve newly added the following items as standard cottage amenities,
which have been well-received for making BBQ preparation a breeze:

– Standard BBQ charcoal (approx. 3kg) is now provided (Additional charcoal is also sold at the hot spring center).
– Fire starters and kindling

Our facility is surrounded by lush woodlands.
Therefore, during summer, you’ll likely encounter insects, birds, and other wildlife.
While our staff thoroughly cleans and takes pest control measures, some creatures may still find their way indoors due to the wooden cottage construction.
We kindly ask for your understanding and consent in advance. We will continue enhancing our facilities so you can thoroughly enjoy your outdoor experience.

(As BBQ meals and beer server rentals are provided at near-cost prices requiring special procurement, there are no exceptions to this cancellation policy. Please notify us of any cancellations by phone by 12:00 PM, 2 days before your reservation.)
At Otonashi-no-Sato, we welcome pets at no additional charge. However, we have established field rules to ensure all guests can enjoy their stay comfortably. Pet owners must follow these guidelines, and failure to comply may result in denied entry or removal from the premises.
• Pets must be well-trained and well-behaved (This means no frequent threatening behavior, excessive barking, or biting toward other guests or their pets)
• Pets must be leashed at all times on the premises (Please be considerate as young children may approach unexpectedly)
• Pet waste cleanup is the owner’s responsibility
• Do not leave pets unattended when going out for shopping, etc. (Leaving pets alone in unfamiliar places causes significant stress and is not permitted from an animal welfare perspective)
• Pets are strictly prohibited in the reception/management building and hot spring center, except for service dogs (The hot spring center “Otonashi-no-Sato” also serves as a local public bathhouse, so please understand this policy for hygiene management reasons)
• Pets must be kept in cages inside cottage buildings and cannot roam freely (This policy helps reduce pet stress in unfamiliar environments, prevents property damage, and considers guests with animal allergies)
※ Pet cages must meet the following conditions ①②:
① Must be fully enclosed (floor and 4 sides) with pet sheets, ensuring pets can relieve themselves inside ② Must be adequately sized to avoid excessive confinement from an animal welfare perspective
• For multiple pets, accommodation is limited to cottages for 7 or more people
※ These rules are designed for one medium-sized dog or smaller per group. For other types or sizes of pets, please consult us in advance for individual consideration.

Our staff who loves outdoor activities has confidently selected the products.
Visit our campsite without your BBQ equipment and enjoy a BBQ using our BBQ grilling kit arranged in collaboration with a local butcher, ensuring that it is cost-effective and makes everyone satisfied.

A comprehensive outdoor facility located in a World Heritage site. It's approximately a 10-minute drive to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine. Please come visit 'Otonashi no Sato' in Hongu-cho, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture.

HANSHIN express-way → HANSHIN express-way KAMITONDA IC → Route 42 → Route 311
It’s 70 minutes driving distance from the KAMITONDA IC.
【From TOKAI area】
NAGOYA express-way → HIGASHI-MEIHAN express-way → ISE express-way → OWASE-KITA IC → Route 42 → Route 168
It’s 150 minutes driving distance from the OWASE-KITA IC.
【 From Kansai area 】
Take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine at the bus-stop of KII-TANABE station on JR KISEI line. It’s a 120 minute bus ride from the staton.
【 From TOKAI area】
Take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine at the bus-stop of SHINGU station on JR KISEI line.
【 From TOKYO area by airplane】
Take a bus called the KUMANO KODO fast bus arranged by MEIKO bus company, at the bus stop of NANKAI SHIRAHAMA Airport. There is just a single service a day leaving there at 9:28 am. It’s a 140 minute bus ride from the airport.
Unless the leaving time of the bus matches on your schedule, please take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine, originally called either RYUJIN bus or MEIKO-bus, not at the airport, but at the KII TANABVE train station . It’s a 120 munite bus ride from the station.
