The cottages in OTONASHI NO SATO are wooden bungalows built of locally sourced lumber.
There are 10 cottages nestled in the mountains along a KUMANO KODO ancient road.

Necessary items such as a BBQ grill, cooking place, cooking equipment,
first-aid supplies, and bedding are all included, to make your stay more comfortable.

Enjoy outdoor activities in a relaxed manner in a world heritage site.

Bedding, a small cooking place, air-conditioning,
and flush lavatory, are standard in all cottages.

While here, please feel free to try the hot spring facility, OTONASHI NO SATO hot spring, is close to your cottage.
The hot spring is open from 13:00 till 21:00.

There are 10 cottages in total.

Each cottage is equipped with chairs, a table, and a grill (with a brand new wire mesh).

During your stay, enjoy unlimited access to the hot spring center.

Each room is equipped with comfortable bedding for a good night’s sleep.

The room for 7 people and the room for 9 people have two bunk beds.

Mini kitchen (with cooking utensils)

equipped with refrigerator, gas stove, water heater, kitchen knife, cutting board, pot, kettle, and frying pan.

Each room is equipped with air conditioning so that you can be comfortable.

The living room also has an air conditioner and a KOTATSU table. (A KOTATSU FUTON is supplied during the winter).

There is a flush toilet in each cottage.

Each cottage is equipped with either a grill for BBQ or a furnace for BBQ.

We haven’t prepared a grill net. If you don’t have one, you can buy it at the administration building “OTONASHI NO SATO”.

＜Since December 2021, we’ve expanded the amenities in our cottages!＞
The motto at ‘-WATAZE OUTDOOR- OTONASHI NO SATO’ is ‘Continuously improving what we can offer our guests, cost-effectively and diligently.’

In December 2021, we enhanced the Wi-Fi coverage throughout the entire site and upgraded the campsite with fully-equipped washlets.

‘Then, we must improve our cottages as well.’
With that thought in mind, we’ve expanded the amenities in our cottages. To help reduce the amount of luggage you need to bring and make outdoor activities more accessible,
we now provide:
① A six-piece set of paper tableware per person
② Rental bath towels for each guest
③ Brand new wire mesh for the provided grills
With these additions of ①, ②, and ③, we invite you to enjoy the outdoors more effortlessly.

Since our facility is located near the forest with an abundance of nature, there are many creatures such as insects and birds, etc., in the summer. Our staffs are careful to ensure these pests are controlled to avoid inconveniencing guests during their stay. However cottages are made of wood, and some insects may inevitably enter through the gaps.

Cancellation Policy

Cottage Cancellation Deadline: Please contact us by 6:00 PM three days prior to your stay.

Cancellation from three days to the day before: 50% charge
Cancellation on the day of or no-show: 100% charge

Exceptions to the accommodation policy:

No cancellation fees will be charged in the following cases:
If we decide to temporarily close the facility due to bad weather (heavy rain warning, storm warning, etc.) or other disasters.
If the weather agency forecasts that our campsite will be in the typhoon’s storm warning area.
If a weather warning is issued for the relevant area on the day of your stay.
If a weather warning is issued before your stay and the situation is deemed not improved by the day of use.
If there is a ‘request’ for business suspension from local authorities due to reasons such as the spread of COVID-19.
We will make decisions based on information from the meteorological agency and related organizations regarding inability to stay due to bad weather, and will notify you on our website as needed. If you cancel due to your own circumstances before the announcement of the inability to stay due to bad weather, the cancellation policy will apply. We kindly ask for your understanding.

BBQ Plan Cancellation Deadline: Until 12:00 PM the day before

(As we provide BBQ and beer server rental at nearly cost price, requiring special procurement, there are no exceptions for cancellation. Please be sure to inform us by phone by 12:00 PM the day before in case of cancellation.)

In case of cancellation on the day or failure to communicate, you may be charged for the actual costs incurred and may be refrained from booking in the future. We ask for your understanding in advance.。

Pet Accompaniment

At OTONASHI NO SATO, we allow pets to accompany guests. While there is no additional charge for pets, we have established field rules to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. Guests accompanying pets are required to adhere to the following guidelines. Failure to comply may result in denial of service and a request to leave the premises.

・Pets must be well-trained. This means no frequent threatening behavior, unnecessary barking, or biting towards other guests or their pets.
Pets must be kept on a leash at all times within the premises. (Please be considerate, as there may be children who approach pets without caution.)

・Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets’ waste.

・Do not leave pets unattended when going out, such as for shopping.
（Leaving pets alone in an unfamiliar place can cause them significant stress, so we ask for your cooperation from an animal welfare perspective.）

・Accompanying pets to the reception management building and hot spring center is strictly prohibited, except for guide dogs or other special circumstances, due to hygiene management.
　(The hot spring center ‘OTONASHI NO SATO’ also serves as a public bathhouse for locals, so your understanding is appreciated.)

・Inside the cottage, pets must always be kept in a pet cage, and free-roaming inside the room is not allowed.
（This is to reduce stress for the pet in an unfamiliar environment, to prevent room damage, and to consider guests with animal allergies.）
The following conditions apply for pet cages:
① The cage should have a floor and be enclosed on all sides, with a pet sheet laid inside, ensuring the pet can relieve itself inside.
② From an animal welfare perspective, the cage size should not be excessively cramped for the pet.
・Both fence-style and box-type cages are acceptable. If using a fence-style cage, please ensure a floor covering is provided.To minimize stress on your pet, we recommend bringing a cage that your pet is accustomed to using.

・For guests accompanying multiple pets, the use of cottages is limited to those for 7 people or more.

The above rules are primarily intended for guests with one medium-sized dog or smaller. For other types of pets, please consult with us in advance, and we will make decisions on a case-by-case basis.

Regarding Late Check-Out
If you would like to extend your stay before your check out time, please let us know at the front desk. If the room is reserved by another guest on that day, we might not accept your request to extend your stay.
(The staying time extension fee is 1,000 yen per hour)

Please be aware that it is not possible to exceed the accommodation capacity. If you temporarily exceed the capacity due to meals or other reasons, please notify us in advance at the administration building ‘OTONASHI NO SATO’.

HANSHIN express-way → HANSHIN express-way KAMITONDA IC → Route 42 → Route 311
It’s 70 minutes driving distance from the KAMITONDA IC.

【From TOKAI area】
NAGOYA express-way → HIGASHI-MEIHAN express-way → ISE express-way → OWASE-KITA IC → Route 42 → Route 168
It’s 150 minutes driving distance from the OWASE-KITA IC.

By train / bus / airplane

【 From Kansai area 】
Take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine at the bus-stop of KII-TANABE station on JR KISEI line. It’s a 120 minute bus ride from the staton.

【 From TOKAI area】
Take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine at the bus-stop of SHINGU station on JR KISEI line.

【 From TOKYO area by airplane】
Take a bus called the KUMANO KODO fast bus arranged by MEIKO bus company, at the bus stop of NANKAI SHIRAHAMA Airport. There is just a single service a day leaving there at 9:28 am. It’s a 140 minute bus ride from the airport.
Unless the leaving time of the bus matches on your schedule, please take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine, originally called either RYUJIN bus or MEIKO-bus, not at the airport, but at the KII TANABVE train station . It’s a 120 munite bus ride from the station.
