The concept behind this idea is that 'outdoors and restaurants/bars have a lot in common. Both provide a space and time for people to gather, relax, and unwind.

Our on-site restaurant and gastro bar, 'Open Deck,' is dedicated to preserving the essence of the outdoors while offering a place where you can truly enjoy both drinks and cuisine. We always emphasize 'everything is homemade and locally sourced,' focusing on local, quality ingredients and beverages.

Casual yet authentic, our restaurant provides an open terrace seat by the riverside, where you can leisurely enjoy the passing time.

*On Mondays, we are open for lunch by reservation only. (Reservations must be made by 14:00 the previous day)
During lunch hours, we primarily offer our lunch menu selections.

Dinner: Fri, Sat, Sun 17:00 – 22:00 (Last Order 21:00)

*We provide an à la carte menu centered around food and drink options for dinner service.

Just a short drive from the World Heritage "Kumano Kodo" and a mere 10 minutes from Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, in this place where history and nature intersect, you can experience a unique time and space that can only be found at "Otonashi no Sato."

Rather than pursuing refinement and luxury, it's a place where you can relax and unwind with ease.

In a 'speak-easy' atmosphere, you can enjoy wood-fired, aromatic pizza and grilled seasonal vegetables, along with simple yet flavorful dishes.

We offer pizza, Kumano beef, and seasonal vegetables.
Our specialty is the signature wood-fired grill menu for main courses.

Reservation Process

you apply through the reservation form, your reservation is confirmed upon receiving acceptance communication from us. Please understand that a reservation is not confirmed at the time of application. (For phone reservations)

As a rule, reservations are confirmed upon telephone verification.
Additionally, we have established the following cancellation policy. Please read it when making a reservation.

Cancellation Policy

We prepare for each reservation with care, including fermenting pizza dough for over 12 hours at low temperatures, preparing soup and sauces from the day before, and purchasing fresh ingredients on the day. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Same Day Cancellation or No-Show
A charge of ¥3,000 per person will be incurred for same-day cancellations.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you will be late for your reservation time. 　If you are more than 40 minutes late without notice, your reservation will be automatically cancelled, and the same day cancellation fee will apply.

Disclaimer

Cancellation fees for same-day cancellations due to typhoons, heavy snow, or other natural disasters will be waived only if notified. In the event of such severe weather or disasters, we may be forced to close for safety reasons.

Our campsite, OTONASHI NO SATO

Camping/Cottages/Hot Springs Center/Restaurant
A comprehensive outdoor facility located in a World Heritage site. It's approximately a 10-minute drive to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine. Please come visit 'Otonashi no Sato' in Hongu-cho, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture.

【From KANSAI area】
HANSHIN express-way → HANSHIN express-way KAMITONDA IC → Route 42 → Route 311
It’s 70 minutes driving distance from the KAMITONDA IC.

【From TOKAI area】
NAGOYA express-way → HIGASHI-MEIHAN express-way → ISE express-way → OWASE-KITA IC → Route 42 → Route 168
It’s 150 minutes driving distance from the OWASE-KITA IC.

By train / bus / airplane

【 From Kansai area 】
Take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine at the bus-stop of KII-TANABE station on JR KISEI line. It’s a 120 minute bus ride from the staton.

【 From TOKAI area】
Take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine at the bus-stop of SHINGU station on JR KISEI line.

【 From TOKYO area by airplane】
Take a bus called the KUMANO KODO fast bus arranged by MEIKO bus company, at the bus stop of NANKAI SHIRAHAMA Airport. There is just a single service a day leaving there at 9:28 am. It’s a 140 minute bus ride from the airport.
Unless the leaving time of the bus matches on your schedule, please take a bus to HONGU TAISHA shrine, originally called either RYUJIN bus or MEIKO-bus, not at the airport, but at the KII TANABVE train station . It’s a 120 munite bus ride from the station.
